Privacy notice

Published by Mark Lord. Last updated October 15, 2026.

What this notice covers

This notice covers the markflord.com website that Mark Lord publishes: the home page, the Try Sabina guide at /trysabina, this page, the transcription tool at /transcribe, the scrapbook at /papa (also reached at papalord.com, which is served from this same site), and the other personal and design pages here. Mark Lord publishes the site and is responsible for it. The site has no forms and no accounts. You can read every public page without giving anything. One page, /graph, is a private tool for Mark Lord: it asks for a password, and it loads no analytics.

Some addresses on markflord.com are served from other sites or forward to them. /pitch forwards to dominusfoundry.com, and /forge, /hyperion and /sabina are served from presentations.markflord.com. This notice and the analytics choice on this site do not cover those pages. Dominus Foundry has its own notice at dominusfoundry.com/privacy.

Analytics

The home page, the Try Sabina guide and this page can use two analytics services. In the European Union, the wider EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, they are used only after you choose “Allow analytics”, and no analytics data is sent until you choose. Elsewhere they are on unless you turn them off with Your privacy choices or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. If you choose “No analytics”, or make no choice where you are asked first, neither service is loaded. The other pages on this site load no analytics at all.

The site uses no advertising tags. Google’s tag here is Google Analytics only: it is not linked to Google Ads, and Google signals, which Google uses for advertising features, are turned off. Information about visitors is not sold, and it is not shared for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Your analytics choice

You can change your mind here at any time. Choosing “No analytics” after allowing it, or while analytics are on because you have not turned them off, stops both services. It also clears the Google Analytics cookies this site can clear, and reloads the page so no script that had already loaded keeps running. Your choice is kept in this browser only, in two places, a cookie and a copy in the browser’s storage, each honoured for 180 days from when you chose. After that you are asked again in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland; elsewhere, analytics are on again unless you turn them off.

Use Your privacy choices at the foot of any page to allow analytics or turn them off at any time.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, it is treated as “No analytics”. You are not asked, and the signal overrides an earlier “Allow” for as long as it is on. Outside the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, where analytics are otherwise on, the signal turns them off in the same way.

This site is a set of static pages. It reads the signal the way your browser offers it to the page (navigator.globalPrivacyControl), and that is honoured. Browsers that send the signal as a Sec-GPC request header also offer it to the page. The site is also set up to note the header itself, but that part has not yet been confirmed to work. If your browser sends only the header, choose “No analytics” above to be sure.

What is stored in your browser

Other services your browser contacts

Some pages also load things from other companies. They load whatever you choose about analytics. They are not analytics, and nothing about you is received from them. The companies receive your IP address and the name of this site, as any server you contact does.

The transcription tool also checks, when it opens, whether Mark Lord’s own transcription server can be reached. That server is on a private network, so for most visitors the check fails and the tool works inside your browser. If the server can be reached, the audio file you choose is sent to it to be transcribed. It is not analytics, and the analytics choice does not change it.

Hosting

The site’s hosting provider serves it and keeps standard request logs: IP address, browser type, the address requested and the time. Those logs are kept for operating and securing the site, not for analytics.

If you get in touch

The site lists an email address and a phone number. If you write, what you send is received and used to reply. The phone number, (505) 520-1433, is Dominus Foundry’s line. Calls to it may be recorded, and you are told at the start of the call. See dominusfoundry.com/privacy for how Dominus Foundry handles calls.

How long it is kept

No fixed deletion date has been set for analytics or for messages you send. Ask, and what is held about you will be deleted.
